Professional Experience:
Land Surveying - Prof. Ching has conducted land boundary re-definition over 6,000 land lots in Hong Kong including Urban Renewal and Railways projects. The lots boundaries established range from a single independent lot up to more than 150 lots in a block systematic survey. To do so, this typically involves land record search, field survey, office reduction, plan preparation as well as report writing in accordance with Code of Practice of Land Survey Ordinance (Cap. 473).
Land Administration - Prof. Ching has been engaged as Land Survey Consultant in government’s land resumption projects. His major duties included base map updating, grave survey, land title checking, preparation of Provisional Draft Resumption Plan as well as liaison with the engineering consultant and various government departments in respect of the survey and mapping exercises. Prior to this, Prof. Ching had been engaged in new railway projects. His major duties included preliminary study for alternative alignments; preparation of resumption and clearance plans; resumption and clearance costs estimates; negotiation with landlords/claimants for the clearance of land; monitoring resumption progress and handling land title issues.
Expert Witness – Prof. Ching has been acting as an expert witness in boundary cases and adverse possession of land properties in court and tribunal by providing boundary evidence through aerial photos desktop study.
Property Management and Lease Interpretation - Prof. Ching has been engaged for provision of sub-lease land boundary survey in Ocean Park. Previously, he had also worked for the RC divestment project of the Hong Kong Housing Authority. Owing to his particular expertise in land administration, he was mainly responsible for providing comments and interpretation to the Deed of Mutual Covenants (DMCs) and Government leases associated with the public housing estates to be divested.
